Course Overview

The course aims to provide offshore personnel with the knowledge and skills to take immediate action upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency.

All offshore personnel

Course Outline

  • Appreciation of the basic body structure and its functions
  • Assessment of the needs of casualties and threats to their own safety
  • Understanding of immediate measures to be taken in cases of emergencies including the ability to:
    • Position the casualty
    • Apply resuscitation techniques
    • Control bleeding
    • Apply appropriate measures of basic shock management
    • Apply appropriate measures in the event of burns and scalds, including electrical
      and chemical burns
    • Apply rescue and transport of a casualty techniques
    • Improvise bandages and use materials in an emergency kit
    • Knowledge of basic fracture immobilization techniques

Certification

TPTI Certificate. Validity period is 3 years.
