Course Overview

Covers the requirements of Wire Rope Inspection including: legal and legislative; definitions and terminology, requirements of an inspection, manufacture, certification and reporting, applicable standards, design and construction, inspection procedure, discard criteria and more.

Who Should Attend

Onshore and offshore personnel that are involved with the use, inspection, maintenance and repair of wire rope.

Course Outline

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

Understand the definition of and to identify different types of wire rope;
Understand the requirements of the applicable standards (EN 12385, ISO 4309, EN 13414 etc.)
Be able to ascertain if the wire rope meets the requirements set out in the standard and those of the manufacturer;
To carry out inspections, maintenance and repairs in accordance with the standards;
Prepare reports in accordance with LOLER ‘98 and client requirements.
